To be like a child

Just thinking about the conversation I have with Emily a while ago… when an adult is asked to listen and follow certain thing, the first question he might ask is: why should I? Can I not go the way I like? This is simply an expression of a fashion. Everyone could have different opinions and what if I have an inspiration? To some extend I agree and it is good to have different opinions as this is how new ideas is formed and things can be improved. However, I strongly believe that a guideline is always needed and knowing to say/do the right thing at the right time or being obedient is important. Otherwise, we will never know where and how to begin, unity will be never formed and the mission will never be directional. Then, we compared with a child. When a child is asked to do something, he follows without asking any question. He just simply accept what he was told is the right thing to do. Sometimes, I think God wants us to be like a child, to think simple and to act simple and not to manipulate His words with our so called intelligence.

Often you hear “you have the right to say how you feel” Yeah, I have the right but it is not so simple. There are things that I don’t like or people that I don’t like, but I can’t mention it. “You should tell them that is wrong…” but often I can’t as noone would accept it even though they might know their doing is wrong. Just let it fade away… until you don’t care anymore…

Doctors on Strike

It is on the newspaper – Junior doctors announce second strike after walking off job (last week). Although I could understand the reason behind the scene, it is still disappointing and unacceptable. Having the doctors on strike have put thousands of people lives on risk. Why did you become a doctor at the first place? Isn’t it as simply as to help someone? I could not deny all the political and financial issues that exist, but again I would like to think that doctor is not just a job or a career. For many of us, they were the highly respected bunch because of their destiny that is to help those who are sick. However, it is not easy to find a good doctor in this century as many of them have been gradually blinded with authority, power and money. It is true that the pay is much higher in other countries. It is not wrong to ask for a pay rise … but could it be done through other ways without hurting others who has nothing to do with it? It is always nice to have a pay rise, but can you really not able to survive without a pay rise. Many other people in other careers also face the same issue and the heavy burden of life. And doctors are definitely not at the bottom range. The foundamental question is: why did you become a doctor?

Another sad family matters I heard and it is upsetting and heartbreaking. It appears that young people these days do not value their own family as much as they should. Often we hear the sibling or the parents sighing: “we were a happy family until xxx started dating” “we had a lot of great time together but not anymore…” etc. This is what happened…

a brother or sister who got along very well with the family and shared everything together. He/she respected, love and care for the family. Until… he/she met someone and started dating. A good/mature relationship would bring more joy and tighten the bonding of a family. However, often we hear about the opposite. In this case, the gf/bf tends to be someone who is self-centre, someone who value herself/himself more than others and even looks down on the others. She/he does not know (or does not care) to respect the family and deny all the wrong doings and see herself/himself right at all times. Not only the parents were upsetted/hurted by the gf/bf, they are also very worried for their son/daughter.

When it is so obvious that gf/bf is not behaving well, what could you do to make things better? The key is held by the son/daughter. The son/daugther should have stood up for his/her family and showed the bf/gf how important the family it is to him/her. He/she should have told the gf/bf that their behaviour are not appropriate and that they should respect the family if this relationship mean something to them. Even though if the family did not have a good impression about the gf/bf at the first place, they are willing to accept them if the son/daugther took the right move. A lot of people tend to think parents are old fashion and stubborn but the truth is that they know you the best and what they said are not necessarily wrong and unacceptable.

However, many family has broken up simply because he/she did not value his/her family enough. When the young people started to date, their eyes were blinded and mind were confused. They see noone and trust noone but their lovers. They started to live in the circle of themselves that anyone who go against them are enemy. Their attitude toward the family started to change, no more respect but rude sayings. Time spending with the family is no longer worthy and important in their eyes. There was a time that a mother told her daughter that her it is not polite that her bf doesn’t greet them when he comes to their place. It was simply a honest and friendly reminder. However, the daughter got mad and blamed her mother for discrimination. What a shocking and disappointing response from the daughter. She refuses to listen to anyone as to her, she was blinded from truth and goodness. Another family of similar senario… doesn’t matter how many times the dad and the older brother had talked to him, nothing go into the ears of the stubborn foolish son. Doesn’t matter how rude his gf is treating his family, he thinks nothing wrong with it. The happiness and laugh they used to have together as a family is gradually vanishing.

What does a family mean to you? How could you forget or deny the love and care they provided for the past 20+ years over someone you have only known for few years? Stop taking granted of your family. IF you think they are obligated to love you, it is obligated for you to love them and treat them well too.

Meaning of wedding?

What is the real meaning of a wedding? Everyone would probably have a different thought to it. For me, I like it traditional and as it is a symbol of holliness and declaration of the commitment between two people and with God. It is ought to be taken seriously. It is also the day to share the happiness with dear friends and family. It is not a show or performance to get other’s attention but a celebration expressed from the bottom or our heart. In addition, it is important to show appreciation to the members of the family in particular as they are the one who has been stood by us all these years with their love and care. Family are easily forgotten in a wedding as all the attention is often into “running” the wedding. However, it is important to remember that family are not there to be taken granted of but to be appreciated.
