Exam tomorrow

August 19th, 2008 by Doris

Leo has a vocal exam tomorrow and he is worried. He has been coughing for sometimes and even though the coughing has finally stopoed, his voice is still not at 100%. In addition, the cold, windy and wet weather is not helping at all. The exam has been divided into several categories including singing 3 pieces, scales, instant learning, etc and the passing marks is 65, not 50. Well, it is not the end of the world if he doesn’t pass considering with his health condition. More important is that he tries his best and that is enough for me. May God keep him and help him tomorrow! Gambadeh Kudasai, my dear.

My Birthday

August 7th, 2008 by Doris

My birthday is on 23 July. However, Leo is so lovely that he wants to extend my birthday to a month. Everyday (whenever he remembers), he would say “Happy Birthday” to me. Every weekend, he makes a special dish for me to celebrate  including Salmon and beef rolls. We also shared the dishes with friends when they came over for dinners. Leo has also been doing houseworks so that I could take a break and relax. On 18th July, we went to a Japanese restaurant for sushi buffet. I was so excited about it the night before as I haven’t had any proper sushi since we got back from Japan December last year. Leo and I both enjoy sushi very much and we looked forward to try this restaurant which appearantly has been there for a long time. I was surprise to find that it is a sushi bar and the chef would just keep making sushi of different sort and present them to us until we are full. They were so yummy (except the sea urchins which is not as fresh). We ended up having 27 sushi/nigiri + a sushi roll. No wonder our pants were tight, haha! Some of the sushi we had were Inari (Tofu), Ebi (Shrimp), Hotate (scallop), Ika (squid), Ikura (salmon), Maguro (Tuna), Saba (Mackerel), Tamago (cooked egg), Tako (Octopus), Unagi (fresh water eel), Uni (sea Urchin), Tobiko (fish egg), hand roll etc. Now, we want to save money and go back again..haha.

Leo wrote on his blog that he has prepared something special for me. I was wondering what would that be… I started to think that may be he would gather my friends but I couldn’t be sure when, where, who and how. Anyway, I thought I shouldn’t spoil the surprise. On Saturday (20th), Leo has booked high tea at the cornwall park restaurant. I had an easy morning, dressed up and headed to our high tea. I seriously thought it was only me and Leo but when we arrived, I saw Evelyn and Lawrence and then I realized that that was the surprise party! :) . What was more surprising was to see Palingu, Dihan and little Taren! I was flattered and touched. Leo has also asked Ivy to prepare a big bunch flowers but Ivy got sick over the weekend and couldn’t make it. It is no big deal as what important is his heart :) . Thank you all for coming and it was a great pleassure to have shared the day with you. And thanks for keeping it quietly haha! At night, we had a simple dinner before we went to movie. it was just such a lovely day.

On 23rd July which was a Wednesday, I got a “day off” and spent the day with mom. I also received many greetings from text messages and on facebook. Ah Kit, my dear friend also called from Singapore. Kit calls me on my birthday every year. I may not hear anything from him for a while but he would sure remember my birthday :) . It is a wonderful feeling to have someone thinking about you even though he/she could not be close to you.

Then, Leo spoilt me again by buying me a second birthday cake :) (we had the first one at the high tea). He is such a darling and i feel as sweet as the cake. If money and health was not an issue, I am sure he would buy more haha… Thank you darling, you are just lovely and it is so wonderful to have you by my side.
