Tabernacle family camp – kids club

March 13th, 2008 by Doris

Tabernacle church was having their annual family camp at willow Park (29 Feb- 2 march). I have been helping with the kid clubs for 3 years now. This year, we have Emily and Lih Reng joining us to run the kid clubs. We have 14 kids this year ranged from age of 4 to 12 and surprisingly we have 3 girls only! We began the programme (Friday night) with introduction, game, story on Robby with his cookies and of course singing. Every year, the children are asked to perform couple songs on Sunday service. So, we have chosen two songs for them; one about the fruit of the spirit and the other about a family since these were the theme of the camp. This year, the children were also asked to do a play on self control during talent show night. This was where the story about Robby and his cookies came in. The children were so good in acting and everyone did a great job! More importantly, everyone enjoyed taking part and have learnt the lesson of self control from it. Some parents were so surprise to realize that their son/daughter can act so well!

Other exciting things we did include watching movies and making a house using ice-cream sticks and coloured matches. The children were so creative (see pages- activities for photo) and well behaved. They are wonderful bunch that we enjoyed very much spending time with.

Palingu and Taren

March 4th, 2008 by Doris

On Friday, Palingu came to visit me and she brought Taren too. We had good time catching up and also playing with Taren. Taren is such a good boy. He didn’t cry the whole time and was happy with me holding him :) . On Sunday, Leo and I went to visit Palingu at her new place after dinner as we needed to get some boxes from her anyway. Taren was holding Leo’s finger tight for a while, but when Leo tried to hold him, he got scared… probably because Leo is tall and was wearing black, haha!
